This month, a return to a conservation theme. I have always been fascinated by Otters (probably through reading 'Tarka the Otter' and 'Ring of Bright Water' as a child) and I am always pleased when I see a Butterfly, even if of a less colourful species. So this month I have chosen a site that combines both Otter and Butterfly conservation:

It is now 64 Years since the Battle of Britain was fought. Whilst enemies are are now allies, it is important that we remember not just the historical significance, but to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the defence of this country. Fortunately we have in the BBMF a 'living' reminder of that 'dark' time:

On the 11th Hour of the 11th Day of the 11th Month of 1918, the Guns fell silent on the Western Front. If my memory serves, there has only been one year since then that a member of the British Armed Services has NOT been killed on Active Service. So I have chosen for this site of the Month an organisation that cares for those who have served and their families:
