Site of the Month for November 2008

The 11th November 2008 marks the 90th Anniversary of the end of World War 1 - The Great War.
I have chosen the site of an organisation, which since its inception in 1917, has constructed 2,500 war cemeteries and plots, erecting headstones over graves and, in instances where the remains are missing, inscribing the names of the dead on permanent memorials.

Although over one million casualties are now commemorated at military and civil sites in some 150 countries. By preserving the memory of the dead with simple dignity and true equality, the Commission hopes to encourage future generations to remember the sacrifice made by so many.
