2008 Olympics Beijing - The official Site in English:
Cannot get to Beijing? Then follow the Games via the BBC!
This month I have chosen a British Wildlife Conservation site:
As well as its own website Save the Scottish Wildcat can also be found at: MySpace -Save the Scottish Wildcat
This month I have chosen a very important British Museum, that is housed in part of the equally important Bletchley Park. Yet neither receives any form of Government Support:
So please put it on your visit schedule and if you can, please send a donation to help keep the Museum going.
The 11th November 2008 marks the
90th Anniversary of the end of World War 1 - The
Great War.
I have chosen the site of an organisation, which since its inception in 1917,
has constructed 2,500 war cemeteries and plots, erecting headstones over graves
and, in instances where the remains are missing, inscribing the names of the
dead on permanent memorials.
Commonwealth War Graves Commission
Although over one million casualties are now commemorated at military and civil sites in some 150 countries. By preserving the memory of the dead with simple dignity and true equality, the Commission hopes to encourage future generations to remember the sacrifice made by so many.
For this month I have chosen two sites that cover the Christmas Truce of 1914.
The first is dedicated to this remarkable incident:
and a feature article from a previous site of the month:
First World War Com - The Christmas Truce
Finally for Children of all ages, a reminder that: NORAD Tracks Santa as Christmas approaches each year.
