Album Notes:
The 'War of the Worlds' Installation:
This consists of three Sculptures by
Michael Condron
commissioned by
Woking Borough Council
to mark the anniversary of the first publication of
H.G.Wells
Novel,
The War of the Worlds
.
Whilst each Sculpture:
'The Martian'
,
'Crashed Pod'
and 'The Bacteria' (not included in this Album) are works of art in their own right,
the entire area including paving and street furniture was redesigned to both enhance and complement
'The War of the Worlds' theme.
Hawker Hunter T.7
Although formerly, the property of the adjacent Nightclub, when this was called
'The Planets' and used by them as an advertising Sign, the Hawker Hunter T.7, is now under the care of
Woking Borough Council and although there is no plaque, or sign, is an important reminder of the
Aviation heritage of this part of Surrey and also a discreet memorial to the many residents of Woking
who worked in the Aircraft Industry.
